JANET SILVERS (JS), Director, Owner

Dance has been a lifelong passion of Janet’s.  She has over thirty years of dance instruction and continues to dance.  She is trained in Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, and Ballet, with a strong focus on Jazz, including certification as a Zumba instructor.  Janet has a strong background in business, as an Accounts Executive and a Regional Accounts Manager, as well as experience in all accounting applications within a small business.  In 2008, Janet graduated from Roosevelt University.  She is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and graduated with high honors from Roosevelt University with a major in History and a minor in Secondary Education.  Janet is so pleased to welcome everyone to Platinum Dance Academy!


LYNETTE VYHNANEK (LV), Director, Competitive Company Adviser, & Dance Instructor

Lynette began dancing at the age of three and continues to dance.  She is trained in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Zumba, and Contemporary.  In High School, she was a Member and Choreographer for the Conant High School Orchesis Dance Team.  She continued her dream throughout college where she became the Vice President and Choreographer of the Harper College Dance Team.  After earning her degree in Elementary Education, she went on to teach preschool and dance.  She has taught Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Technique, Contemporary, Poms, Cheer, and “slashy” classes for ages 2- adult.  Shortly after she became the head coach for the JV Poms team at Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora.  At the time, the JV team had not competed.  Lynette organized a competition team and took home only first and second placements in their division. It has always been a dream of Lynette’s to open a dance studio.  Lynette has choreographed many solos, duos, and groups that hold First Place National Titles.  Lynette has been trained through Donna Johnson, Bruce Stegmann, Vicki Summers, Garth Fagan, and many more.   Lynette is so pleased to welcome everyone to Platinum Dance Academy.


MS. CHARITY  (CB), Zumba Instructor

Charity is a mother of two teenage girls, a wife of a writer, and an aunt to eight nieces and nephews.  She is a lover of Zumba, movies, and scrapbooking.  Charity has taught Zumba for two years, including in Jamaica.  She is CPR and AED certified.  She is also certified as a group fitness instructor by Aerobics and Fitness Association of America.


MS. ALYSSA (AC), Dance Instructor

Alyssa started dancing at the age of 3 and become serious about it when she was 12. Though her specialties are Contemporary, Modern, Lyrical, and Jazz, Alyssa has emerged herself in various styles including Tap, Hip Hop, Musical Theater, and Ballet-including Pointe work.  Alyssa has danced competitively for 5 years prior to her college career.  While on company she had the chance to take classes from various artists such as Stacey Tookey, Sonya Tayeh, Paula Morgan, and many more.  Alyssa is a recent graduate from Columbia College Chicago, in which she attained her Bachelors of Arts degree in Dance and Choreography.  During her years in college, she has studied under Natalie Rast, Sarah Schafer, Paige Cunningham in Ballet, Contemporary Ballet, Modern (Cunningham and Graham).  She has brought home several 1st place overalls and special judges awards.  Alyssa is very excited to start her journey at Platinum Dance Academy!


MS. CHRISSY (CF), Dance Instructor

Christina, originally from Schaumburg, Illinois started dancing at the age of 3 under the direction of Jan Powers. She has completed her BFA in dance at Ball State University. The University has given her the opportunity to take class with multiple artists such as Sidra Bell, David Dorfman, Nan Eisenhower and Alex Sanders. She has performed with Inaside Chicago Dance’s youth training program along with dancing in River North Dance Chicago’s summer program. Her emphasis in dance are the styles of jazz and tap and aspires to explore the world of commercial dance throughout her professional career. Along with choreographing unique works inspired from her idol, Bob Fosse, she continues to share her love and passion for dance with today’s youth as a dance instructor.


MS. KAITLYN (KG), Dance Instructor

Kaitlyn started dancing at the age of two. She performed the Nutcracker and Cinderella with the prominently known studio, Von Heidecke’s Chicago Festival Ballet. She was an assistant teacher at the studio. She competed with her high school Aurora Central Catholic dance team, where she was on the varsity all four years. The dance team went down state every year where they won first, second or third place. She participated in competitions with Passion Dance Project. Kaitlyn graduated with a B.F.A. in dance at Northern Illinois. She is well diverse in all styles of dance such as ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, modern, hip hop, and tap. She has choreographed for Northern Illinois, as well for Naperville Central’s dance team. Kaitlyn wants to spread her passion and knowledge in dance with others.
