JANET SILVERS (JS), Director

Dance has been a lifelong passion of Janet’s.  She has over thirty years of dance instruction and continues to dance.  She is trained in Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, and Ballet, with a strong focus on Jazz, including certification as a Zumba instructor.  Janet has a strong background in business, as an Accounts Executive and a Regional Accounts Manager, as well as experience in all accounting applications within a small business.  In 2008, Janet graduated from Roosevelt University.  She is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and graduated with high honors from Roosevelt University with a major in History and a minor in Secondary Education.  Janet is so pleased to welcome everyone to Platinum Dance Academy!

 

LYNETTE VYHNANEK (LV), Director, Ballet Company Adviser, Competitive Company Adviser, & Dance Instructor

Lynette began dancing at the age of three and continues to dance.  She is trained in Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, and Contemporary.  In High School, she was a Member and Choreographer for the Conant High School Orchesis Dance Team.  She continued her dream throughout college where she became the Vice President and Choreographer of the Harper College Dance Team from 2002- 2004.  After earning her degree in Elementary Education, she went on to teach preschool and dance.  She has taught Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Technique, Contemporary, Poms, Cheer, and “slashy” classes for ages 2- adult.  In 2007, she became the head coach for the JV Poms team at Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora.  At the time, the JV team had not competed.  Lynette organized a competition team and took home only first and second placements in their division. It has always been a dream of Lynette’s to open a dance studio.  Lynette has choreographed many solos that hold First Place National Titles.  Lynette has been trained through Donna Johnson, Bruce Stegmann, Vicki Summers, Garth Fagan, and many more.   Lynette is so pleased to welcome everyone to Platinum Dance Academy.

 

STEPHANIE BEYER (SB), Tumbling Instructor

Stephanie grew up in Wheeling, Illinois where she began her gymnastics career. At age 4, she started doing cartwheels in her front yard, and her mother then enrolled her at The American Academy of Gymnastics in Wheeling.  She was enrolled in classes there for 10 years and then went on to competing during her high school years. Her favorite of the four events was floor.
Stephanie has a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education from SIU and has been a teacher since 1997.  She has worked with toddlers and children up to the age of 18. Stephanie has been coaching gymnastics with her main focus on basic tumbling skills and flip flops.

 

CHARITY BROWNE (CB), Zumba Instructor

Charity is American Heart CPR and AED Certified.  She is certified in Zumba Basic 1 & 2, as well as, Zumba Gold. She is a mother of 2 teenage daughters and enjoys spending time with them and her husband. Charity has struggled in the past to find an exercise that made her feel motivated and wanting more.  About 5 years ago, she discovered Zumba and was hooked!  Zumba makes you feel like you are at a party!  You dance with friends and find yourself smiling!  Life stress issues can be set aside as you enjoy the music and movement!  At the end of the hour, you have burned calories, toned various muscles, and didn’t even realize you worked out!  Come Zumba with Charity, and find out how Zumba can make a difference in your life!

 

ANGELA D’ONOFRIO (AD), Dance Instructor

Angela was trained in Elmhurst, IL at Dupage Dance Academy, as well as, Milwaukee Ballet School, Virginia School of the Arts, and on scholarship at Northern Illinois University.  She is an accomplished dancer and teacher of ballet, pointe, jazz, contemporary, tap and classical modern dance who has taught hundreds of students of all ages the art of dance at schools throughout the Chicagoland area. Angela uses energy, knowledge and humor to motivate her students to go beyond what they thought possible and to find small successes to celebrate in every class. She brings her love of the classics and  her passion for dance history into the classroom as a teacher. Angela is passionate about giving her students the tools they need to become accomplished technicians, as well as, individual artists. Angela was the Assistant Ballet Mistress for Ballet North of Northbrook, IL for 10 years where she staged and performed full-length classical ballets as well as choreographed contemporary works for the company.  As a Principal Dancer with the company, she performed such classical roles as Myrta, Nikiya, Lilac Fairy, Mercedes, Gulnare as well as many others.  Angela was the Founder and Director of m.c. squared dance company, dedicated to giving opportunities to dancers, choreographers and musicians to create and share their art. Angela has choreographed many original works for the company including Passage, a contemporary ballet set to Appalachian Mountain Music, The River to Smetena’s beautiful Moldau, The Ugly Duckling set to an original score composed for the company, and most recently Migration, a contemporary work following a young girl and boy through an apocalyptic journey set to the passionate music from the film The Last of the Mohican’s. She performed many classical and contemporary roles with the company including “Taglioni” in Pas de Quatre. Angela has studied and performed the work of Isadora Duncan with Duncan Dance Chicago under the tutelage of her mentor Jennifer Sprowl since 2008. She is passionate about learning and sharing the joy of Duncan Dance. As a founding member of the company, she currently performs throughout Chicago with the company. She formerly appeared as a guest artist in Washington D.C. at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in a program entitled The Art of Isadora Duncan.  She also teaches Classical Modern at the Joffrey Academy of Dance in Chicago.  Angela is currently the Co-Director of a new project called Impulse Movement Co. which brings together dancers and musicians to create and share audience friendly exciting new work in the Chicago suburbs.

 

COURTNEY GAINES (CG), Dance Instructor, Competitive Company Coach, & Ballet Company Artistic Director

Courtney has been studying the art of dance for fifteen years. Her specialties include lyrical, contemporary, jazz, tap, poms, hip hop, ballet and Broadway.  She has been a member of the Marquis Dance performance and competition teams, the Action Dance Crew Competition team, and The Wheaton Starz Dance Troupe.  Her teaching career began nearly five years ago teaching at Lights, Camera, Dancin in Roselle, Front Street Dance Center in Wheaton, Duet Dance Academy in South Elgin and the Glendale Heights Park District. Courtney is excited to share her passion for dance!

 

JENNA BILL (JMB), Dance, Silks, Ballet Company Artistic Director and Competitive Company Coach 

Jenna began dancing at age 3 in the Chicago suburbs.  She trained intensely at Visceral Dance Chicago and Lou Conte Dance Center, spending two summers there as a member of their scholarship program.  Jenna attended workshops at Giordano Dance Chicago and River North Dance Chicago before graduating from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance.  She spent a semester abroad in Paris, France studying ballet and modern dance.  After college, Jenna received her 200-hour yoga teaching certification and teaches yoga classes throughout the Chicago suburbs.  In addition to studio dance, Jenna choreographs routines and teaches technique to Huntley High School Dance Team and West Chicago Dance Team.  Jenna has been awarded choreography awards and is looking forward to another year teaching at Platinum Dance Academy!
